Cloisonee Junglefowl

This Japanese button is high quality cloissonee enamel, probably made around 1900.
The very fine gold wires are soldered on the face, and the coloured enamels held in place by the cloissons.
The bird looks like a rooster, but is in fact a Jungle Fowl (Latin name Gallus gallus).
This is the wild forerunner of all our domestic hens. Jungle Fowl are found in SouthEast Asia.
The enamel is held in 925 silver and the rope border is 14 carat gold. The button is 3cms diameter.
