Enamel flowers with cut steel border

The Victorians had a language of flowers that was used to send loving messages.
The red rose is for love, and the forget-me-not is self explanatory.
The flowers are painted on a white enamel base and covered with a clear layer of enamel before firing.
The enamel disc is held in metal with a border of cut steels.
Cut steel is mentioned in a history book of 1686.
