Welcome to The British Button Society!

Welcome to the website of The British Button Society.

The Society was formed in 1976 by a group of people interested in collecting buttons and researching their history.

There is a wealth of history around buttons and their manufacture - members' interests include: military, railway, hunt, livery and dress buttons - many of which are real works of art.

We are happy to answer questions from members on this site and if non members would like to join the society we would be more than happy to try to help them also. Would members please include their membership numbers when requesting information.

Use this link to join The British Button Society, or contact any member of the committee who, between them collect all types of buttons.
There are many benefits from joining the society. Members have access to a wealth of information and contact with many members who are experts in particular fields. As members you will receive a quarterly magazine, Button Lines, which is mailed to all members; a recent edition is available on request. Each issue contains lots of interesting articles, and you can also request information by letter. This means you contact people who don't have internet access and can often help as well. There is also an archive containing much valuable material to aid research which is available to members.

As a member you can attend meetings both local and national giving the opportunity to talk to fellow collectors and exchange ideas and information. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings but there is a small charge of £3.
